Peanut Butter Banana Shake

Tonight I was doing some really hard-core procrastination and I decided to make something to aid in said procrastination. I got excited, though and forgot to take pictures of it, so I’ll just walk you through it with my words.

So before you get started, you need to cut up a banana and put it in a freezer-safe container and put it in the freezer. The pieces should be bite sized, and you should give these little banana hunks at least twelve hours to freeze up hard.

Next thing, probably the next day, you need to gather milk, peanut butter, chocolate milk mix (either powder or syrup), and ice cream (100% optional, I’ll tell you why soon). You should also get your blender ready, I prefer to use an immersion blender for milkshakes and smoothies.

You need to get the milk ready. Start with a dollop of peanut butter (a good tablespoon or two should work), a good amount of the chocolate milk mix (as much as you would use for cup of milk), and about a half of a cup of milk. Blend this at a low speed/power until the peanut butter is thinned out by the milk and it’s completely smooth. If you don’t think you have enough chocolate, now is the time to add some more, but you might not know that until you make this because I didn’t do any fancy measuring.

Now, get your banana out of the freezer, and break the pieces apart because they’ll stick together. Blend a couple of the pieces in at a time (you’ll need a high speed here, they are pretty much solid), until they are all there and the shake is nice and smooth. You may need to add some more like here, if you do, turn the power back to low, so you don’t over blend everything and cause some unnecessary melting. From here, you can add a small scoop of ice cream to add more calories if you’re into that, but otherwise you’re done.

Pour it into a glass and serve with both a straw and a long spoon. It’s not terribly healthy, especially if you end up using the ice cream, but it’s filling. The banana and the peanut butter will fill you up and give you some good lasting energy and milk’s always good.

I know it’s cold and this may not be exactly what you want right now, but it’s not that cold here right now and so it’s still okay for us to eat cool stuff. On that note, Christmas is a week from Tuesday, and the next couple weeks I may not be blogging. I hope to post some stuff after Christmas, but that’s still a ways away. If I don’t get another chance to tell you, I’ll just do it now.

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. Enjoy the holidays.
